Fiona & Peter | Wedding

Fiona & Peter's wedding at the start of January kicked off the 2010 wedding season for me. At the time, UK was in the grips of the biggest snowfall I've ever seen in my 10 years here, and in the days of snow mayhem leading up to the big day I was more than a little bit worried about how we were going to get to the wedding! In the end, while there were some scary moments on the icy roads where my heart was in my throat, we did manage to get around to everywhere we needed to be. The wedding took place at Stoke Place, which I have to say is absolutely g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s! I really hope I get to go back there again.

Fiona was a gorgeous bride and this wedding was filled with beautiful details, laughter and good food. Thanks for having us guys, it truly was a pleasure!

Poppy | Family session

As promised, some more pictures of the adorable Poppy, who was three weeks old when I got to photograph her. Poppy was definitely the most relaxed baby customer I've ever had, so relaxed in fact that we couldn't really get her to wake up at all during the session! But I think her chilled attitude kind of adds some extra cuteness to the proceedings.

Katie & Sam | Wedding

Heeere we go! Finally I can show you the last wedding of 2009. Phew! Katie and Sam got married at Hassop Hall in Derbyshire on a very cold December day right after Christmas. Despite all the travelling, and the rather miserable weather, this wedding was an absolute joy to attend. If I had to think of one word to describe Katie, it would probably be exuberant. She was so full of joy on her wedding day, and that joy spread through everyone present. You might remember from their engagement shoot that Sam and cameras don't exactly get along... I must say though that he was on his very best behaviour all day, and was even game for some portraits in the bathroom!

Hassop Hall itself was a gorgeous venue, and I really hope I'll get to go back there as it would be nice to make use of the beautiful grounds on a day where icy rain wasn't involved...

Thanks so much Katie and Sam for having us, I hope you have a long and happy life together!

Katie & Sam | Sneaky Peek

Yesterday Katie and Sam got married at Hassop Hall in Derbyshire in what was my last wedding of 2009. It was a long old day of travelling half way up the country and back again, but certainly worth it for the chance to be a part of this beautiful winter wedding. Katie and Sam are now off on their honeymoon, and I will be leaving for the airport in about 5 minutes to catch my flight to Finland where I'll be ringing in the New Year.

Personal favourites from 2009

I can't quite believe we're almost at the end of this year. I still have one wedding to go until 2009 comes to a close, but you won't see the results of that until after the new year. This year has gone by in a whirlwind, while managing to include a staggering amount of amazingness - I can't begin to tell you how fortunate I feel. I really want to thank all of my clients who have made it possible - from the bottom of my heart - you all rock!

Also, a huge huge thank you to Susanna, who's the most amazing assistant any photographer could ever have! <3

If this year was amazing, 2010 is going to be completely off the scale. I'm so stoked to already be in the position where I'm at full capacity for wedding bookings for next year (which means, if you're thinking about hiring me for 2011 you might want to get on the case quite early). There are so many brilliant weddings to look forward to next year, from romantic countryside weddings, to London city weddings, not to mention a seaside wedding in Cornwall and a couple of absolutely enchanting sounding weddings in France! I feel a bit like a kid in a candy store and just can't wait to get stuck in!

But first, it's time to take some quiet time and enjoy Christmas, while reflecting on the great memories I gained during the passing year. Here are a few of my favourite pictures from 2009. And with that, Have a Very Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year everyone! x

The Bennetts | Family Shoot

At the weekend I had the pleasure of spending a very crisp morning with the Bennett family. Leela is a local photographer, who originally contacted me as she needed some shots of herself for her website. The shoot eventually evolved into a family shoot with her husband Andrew and son Jasper, with some portraits of Leela thrown into the mix. It was a cold cold day, but in that lovely sunny and fresh way, and I thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with the Bennetts. It was such a pleasure meeting you all and I really hope you like your pictures! x

Emily & John rockin' all over UK | Feature

I was pretty chuffed when I was asked whether my pictures from Emily and John's awesome wedding could be used in a double feature between two rocking UK wedding blogs, Rock'n Roll Bride and Rock My Wedding. As a photographer, I tend to tell stories via the pictures I post. The thing I really like about being featured in wedding blogs is that I then often get to read the other side of the story, as told by the bride herself. Emily & John | Wedding

After my little break, I couldn't have wished for a nicer wedding than Emily and John's to get me back into the swing of things. Winter weddings are always a bit of challenge when it comes to available light and the weather in general, and this one certainly wasn't an exception. The ceremony of Emily & John's wedding took place at Woodstock Town Hall in Oxfordshire, at 3pm. The sun set at 3.35pm. And let me tell you, when the sun sets outside of London, it actually gets dark. Like really dark. :D Despite the darkness, and the constant rain, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed recording the warm atmosphere of this wedding. The reception, at The Great Barn in Aynho, had such a joyous and christmassy feel to it that I felt compelled to put my own Christmas decorations up the very next day!

I am back from Cornwall, but my mind hasn't quite caught up with the hectic pace of the city yet. Next Saturday's wedding is bound to snap me out of my stupor and give a kick start to blogging properly again. Also, more pictures (and maybe even video!) from Cornwall to come, once I've gotten around to taking a closer look at what I captured while down there.

Simona & Dan | Engagement

If there was an award for the craziest engagement shoot weather ever, Simona & Dan's shoot would win hands down. Oh. My. God. Gale force winds and horizontal rain made this one of my most challenging shoots to date. I have to say that Simona and Dan were absolute troopers, and despite the slightly 'windswept' look, Simona managed to look absolutely stunning throughout! They are one of my (many!) couples getting married at the Andaz next year, and as if that wasn't exciting enough prospect, their evening party will take place at the Gherkin. I can't wait!

Erika & Jon | Engagement

As a rule us photographers generally have a very turbulent love affair with light. More often than not dark clouds and gray skies try to come between us (unless you're lucky enough to be a photographer in California), but sometimes we just manage to be in the right place at the right time. On those days, when the sun comes out to play and it's all good, you know that you and light are as tight as can be.

It was pretty much the perfect autumn day when we went to Primrose Hill for Erika & Jon's engagement shoot on the last weekend of October. The gloriously warm and beautifully low autumn sunshine made me a bit giddy, and all the colourful leaves were like sensory overload. If only every day and every shoot could be like this!
