Sam & Adam | Wedding

I’m so stoked to finally be able to blog Sam & Adam’s stunning Andaz wedding! I know it’s so so wrong to have ‘favourite’ clients, but if I was forced to rank my clients (at, you know, gunpoint or something) Sam and Adam would come way up there. They’re just so cool and nice and super talented, and they really made us feel like we were a part of the celebration.

Sam looked absolutely stunning from head to toe, from her gorgeous Marchesa gown to her cool Nicholas Kirkwood heels, and Adam very dapper indeed in his Dunhill suit. What with Sam and Adam – and a lot of their guests – being fashion designers, the coolness factor was definitely very high in this wedding! :D

No matter how many weddings I shoot at the Andaz, it seems that there are always new spaces to discover. This time, after ceremony in the Fenchurch room, the wedding breakfast was held at the Studio, which looked absolutely stunning, not least because of the gorgeous flowers by Scarlet & Violet (oh and the cake, by Maki’s Cakes, was pretty stunning too).

After dinner the party continued in the Temple. It was really nice to bump into familiar DJs, the Wedding Smashers, once again. These guys really do know how to rock a house!

A million thanks Sam and Adam for making us feel like we were a part of your super cool ‘family’! I know the ash cloud provided you with some extra days on honeymoon, which you totally deserved! :D

Simona & Dan | Wedding

Ooh I do love an Andaz Liverpool Street wedding! Luckily I have quite a few of them coming up, but Simona & Dan’s was the first one this year, which makes it a little bit special. The ceremony of Simona & Dan’s wedding took place in the Bishopsgate Room of the Andaz, while their drinks reception was held at the Gallery and dinner in the gorgeous 1901 restaurant. I have to say that I was blown away by how Simona had planned every little detail SO perfectly. From her gorgeous Vera Wang gown, to the purple colour theme running through the day, everything looked just absolutely sublime!

After the speeches guests piled onto an old London bus, which ferried us over to the St Mary Axe at the top of the Gherkin. Despite the darkness and the fog, the views from up there very pretty spectacular. What a place to dance the night away! Oh and a special shout out goes to the boys from Wedding Smashers who did a seriously good job on the decks. If you’re in search of the coolest wedding DJ’s in town, look no further.

Thank you so much Dan and (princess) Simona! I loved every minute of your beautiful wedding and I hope you will always be as happy together as you were on the day. <3

Andaz Summer Garden Launch Party | Event

I’ve had a bit of a break from weddings this weekend, but I’ve still kept pretty busy. On Friday I was photographing the launch party of the Summer Garden at Andaz Liverpool Street. It was a bit of an unusual event for me to cover, but I do love the venue and have more weddings to shoot there in the future, which I’m really looking forward to. What I loved most about Friday night’s do though? All the lush pink details everywhere! Who could have guessed eh…. :D

Stephanie & Rob – Portraits | Wedding

We have finally come to the last instalment from this wedding. There wasn’t much time to take portraits of Steph and Rob, but we did manage to sneak out from the Temple into one of the beautiful stairwells of the Andaz for a few shots. Just how gorgeous is Steph!

With this, I’d like to once again thank Stephanie and Rob for letting me be a part of this beautiful and special wedding. I wish you guys have as gorgeous a life together as your wedding day was!

Stephanie & Rob – The Temple | Wedding

Now then, you remember how I was saying this was a challenging venue to work in. You might have been wondering where exactly the challenge was. Let me introduce The Temple. Yes, the Andaz boasts a century old Masonic Temple, now thought to be grandest in England, with Grade II listed marble and mahogany. When the hotel was sold for refurbishment it was so run-down the previous owners had never discovered the temple as it was boarded behind a fake wall. Some believe Jack the Ripper was a Mason and would have attended this temple as it was closest to his hunting ground.

But yes, a temple with walls made out of dark marble, no windows, no artificial light sources, just candles. I could hardly see anything through the viewfinder! My assistant did an awesome job running around with an off camera flash, without her I don’t think there would be any pictures to show.

Stephanie & Rob – Champagne reception | Wedding

After the ceremony, there was a champagne reception at the Gallery, which is a stunning modern space with an enormous glass roof and that funky circular atrium you saw in the test pictures. It’s a bit of a shock to the system to move through the different areas of the Andaz, it’s like jumping back and forth through time. I hope you’re not getting bored with the pictures from this wedding, still two instalments to come!

Stephanie & Rob – Ceremony | Wedding

The ceremony of Steph & Rob’s wedding took place in the Fenchurch room of Andaz Liverpool Street. It was a gorgeous setting, with rose pedals and candle light creating a romantic atmosphere. Even though I was there to work, even I got a bit emotional at some point!

Stephanie & Rob – Getting ready | Wedding

I’m going to process (and blog) Steph & Rob’s wedding in separate instalments. Since the day was quite clearly divided into separate sections – and spaces – it makes it easier to attack the processing in batches. So here’s the first instalment, where Steph is getting ready for the big day.

The wedding was a total blast, but I’ll tell more about in the future posts. I’ve been sitting in front of the computer pretty much all day now and could really use a break… So, watch this space! :D

P.S. I just had to add, thank you so much to my wonderful assistant/second shooter, who was absolutely indispensable in this difficult venue (as you will find out in later instalments!), and also, thank you so much to Steph and Rob for letting us share your day with you!

Testing, testing…

So I went back to the Andaz today to finally meet face-to-face with Steph and Rob. Had a bit of a panic as first when I was told their room reservation had been cancelled! Turned out that it was someone else under the same name… :D They are such a lovely couple and everything about their wedding is just so cool and relaxed and fun. We walked around the hotel and tried out some interesting looking spots. Some spaces are just brilliant with lots of natural light, while others, where as equally stunning, very dark. So I will have to really think about how to work around that. But yeah, really looking forward to Saturday now!

Something old, something new

Stephanie and Rob are getting married at The Andaz on Saturday, and since I’d never been there before I went to check it out today. From the street you would never guess what a huge and gorgeous place it is. There are cool shapes everywhere, and the spaces flow between the old and the new in a dizzying manner. The setting should certainly make for some pretty exciting pictures on the day!

This is an unusual wedding in the sense that I haven’t actually met Steph and Rob face-to-face yet. They live in Dubai and have been arranging their wedding remotely (phew, can’t even imagine how stressful that is!), so thus far we have only exchanged a looot of emails with Steph. I’m meeting them for the first time on Thursday, can’t wait!
