The Wedding Book | Story of your day

I know it’s been a while! I’ve had a bit of a nightmare week what with getting ill and all sorts, but I’m finally getting back on track. Hopefully I can show you something from last Saturday’s amazing Andaz/Gherkin wedding soon as well.

In the meanwhile, I thought I’d finally share some pictures of the new Wedding Book. In the past few years I have offered a few different types of albums, primarily because I hadn’t found one that ticked absolutely all the boxes. I have offered coffee table books as I really think the album should tell the whole story of the wedding day, not just selected highlights, and with coffee table books that is possible as it is more cost effective to get more pages in. But the quality of coffee table books is not quite up to what I’d ideally envisage for a wedding album, they always tend to feel a bit less substantial. So that’s why I have also been offering the option of a flush mounted album, which really is a beautiful album to behold, but in order to include as many pages as I feel there ought to be, drives the price of the album out of reach for most – besides most flush mounts can’t even accommodate the amount of pages I want to give my clients.

I am so happy to say that I have finally found the one, and it really is a match made in wedding album heaven. I shall just call it The Wedding Book. The book feels really solid and substantial in your hands, the pages are stiff and lay completely flat and have a beautiful matt finish, which I think really compliments my photography. Each book is designed individually for you and tells the whole story of your wedding day. This means that each book comes up a slightly different – but always quite a substantial – length, while the price still stays the same.

Since I’m a big believer in ‘simple is better’, I am going to offer this new type of Wedding Book as the only option for 2011 and onwards – I really feel that strongly that it is the 100% perfect way to display my photographs and to tell the story of your wedding day in the most beautiful way. Those clients who have booked me with my 2010 prices will of course be able to order the older types of albums as well.

I have now switched over to the new 2011 prices, but for those still in consultation stages, who have received the old price list, I will hold the 2010 prices for you if you book by the end of February.

We love… The Wedding Chicks

I just wanted to show some love to one of my favourite wedding vendors around. Maesha & Pete‘s disc and Claire & Hywel‘s book both got delivered in lovely custom made tote bags from The Wedding Chicks (sorry about the somewhat suboptimal pics where they look crumpled to all hell!). I really love creative vendors such as this! If you’re a bride to be, check out their store for all sorts of fun things to prettify your wedding – I can guarantee you’ll be hooked!

Exclusive Save-the-date designs from Under The Cherry Moon

I’m pretty excited to finally be blogging about my latest collaboration. It’s been in the works for a while, but I had to wait until the first lot of cards had been sent out, so as to not risk spoiling the impact for the lucky guests receiving them!

I’ve been offering plain folded save-the-date cards for some time now, and at some point I started designing postcard format cards, with a photo from the engagement session on the front and a design on the reverse. But I felt that I needed to offer something a bit more funky, and thus got the idea of teaming up with the uberly talented Rhiannon from UnderTheCherryMoon. I have to say that I am absolutely over moon with the designs she has come up with!

Since Becks & Andi were the first ones ever to order these new Save-the-Dates, they now get to act as the poster children for these new beauties!

There are altogether 4 different UnderTheCherryMoon designs available, which can only be bought exclusively through Marianne Taylor Photography. So in case you were wondering what fun things you could do with your engagement photos, these cards are definitely my new favourites! Do get in touch to see more designs or to ask about custom designs.

Sample Book | Wedding

To be honest, I’ve always thought that the kind of photography I do is best displayed in a coffee table book. I find it’s a format that lets me tell the story of the day in the most efficient way, as it’s more cost effective to include a larger number of pages. I also like the idea that coffee table books are items that will get used more as they seem ‘less precious’, allowing you to get them out more often for a flick through, unlike super expensive high end albums which generally get tucked away in the bookcase, only to be taken out at anniversaries and other rare occasions. Having said that, there is undoubtedly something very special about a beautifully crafted high end album, so it was always my intention to offer the option of a more luxurious wedding album as well.

I looked for a looong time for the perfect flush mount wedding book to offer, one that would be classically beautiful, and understated enough to compliment my photography. I had a clear image in my head about what the album should look like, but it took a long time to find a supplier who’s product line came even close to the standard I was after. I finally found the perfect album – from Italy.

Album Epoca is a digital flush mounted photo album printed entirely on photographic paper, using a system that unites advanced technology with old world craftsman binding skills. Each album is hand-bound in Italy using an internationally patented continuous binding system, which allows for photos to be viewed and enjoyed without interruptions. These albums truly are works of art and I am really happy to be able to offer them.

Since, due to living so far away, Steph and Rob opted for the disc of their wedding pictures instead of a book, I always felt that it was a bit of a waste not to have their wedding in an album form. So when the time came for me to order a sample book, the decision of what to display on the pages was pretty easy make. I think their wedding pictures form a perfect union with this book, and I’m really happy to finally be able to show a physical sample of these albums to my clients in future consultations. A brochure is all well and good, but it’s really no substitute to the real thing!
