Jane & John | Wedding

Jane & John got married at 10am on a crisp October morning at Old Marylebone Townhall. I met Jane before the ceremony at The Landmark Hotel where she got dressed into her beautiful La Sposa Denia gown from Provonias, after Sam Sham worked on her makeu-up and hair. There were also some gorgeous Jimmy Choo’s and lovely flowers by Paula Pryke involved.

From there is was a skip and a hop across the street to the Townhall, where John was waiting in the Reception Room, which is one of my favourite ceremony spaces in London. After the ceremony Jane, John and I walked across town towards Mayfair, taking some portraits on the way, before joining the guests for some delicious looking dim sum at the Princess Garden of Mayfair.

It was unusual for us to cover such an early morning wedding, with a lunchtime reception, but there was something very personal and quaint about it all. I always love it when people do their own thing and go with what suits them best.

Thank you Jane & John for having us share your lovely day with you. I hope you’ve had an amazing time on your honeymoon! x

Alexis & Jack | Wedding

Nothing I could write about Alexis & Jack, and their wedding, will do justice to the amazing people that they are. Ever since their Chinatown engagement session I had been impatiently waiting for the big day. And it certainly lived up to all my expectations, and then some! So where to start… Let’s try from the beginning.

The invitation suite was designed by Alexis and her mother (in conjunction with her stationery company Paper Dragon) and were all hand made by the lovely mother of the bride. I have to say that these, along with all the other paper goods designed by Alexis, set the tone for the day beautifully. But nothing came close to being more beautiful than Alexis on the day! She looked an absolutely knock-out in her Vera Wang gown, incredible Miu Miu heels and Atelier Millinery headpiece. Sophie Stafford on make-up, and Melanie Giles Salon on hair, completed the fabulous look. Alexis also wore her mother’s own bridal necklace, her grandmother’s tennis bracelet, and her bouquet was pinned with her grandmother’s art deco brooch. For the reception she added a belt made by Vera Wang Couturier with ribbon from VV Rouleaux and an AMAZING Vera Wang necklace.

The beautiful ceremony and glitzy reception of Alexis & Jack’s wedding both took place at the prestigious Bath Assembly Rooms in the city centre. Mary Lee Herrington of Forever and Ever Events was Day of Coordinator and my girl Steph Turpin of Fairynuff Flowers had created pure magic with the flower arrangements. Hannah Bowden from Searcy’s Catering was in charge of the fabulous food and the out-of-this-world cake was created by Linda Fripp and then customised with a cake topper by Cutture and ribbon from VV Rouleaux.

So many things made this wedding such a pleasure to be a part of, not least the other vendors, such as long time friends Wedding Smashers, who were on DJ duties, and  Allora Visuals – a cinematographer team I’ve always wanted to work with and finally had the chance to. Can’t wait to see what they captured! I have to also give a shout out to Hot Buttered Soul Collective who sang beautifully during the ceremony, and the lovely staff at The Assembly Rooms who were so helpful and accommodating.

But most of all, Jack and Alexis… I can’t congratulate you enough, it is clear that you were meant for each other and I am so so happy to have been present on your big day. Thank you so much for having us, and thank you to your families for being as utterly lovely as you two are. x

P.S. you can read Alexis’ side of her wedding day on her fabulous blog OMG I’m getting married!

Rita & Rushin | Wedding reception

It’s been a pretty special week, as I’ve been away from my desk hosting the uh-ma-zing Life {as an artform} London workshop (more on that later), and now ending with the surprisingly touching Royal Wedding. Somehow it seems appropriate to finish the week off with posting Rita & Rushin’s gorgeous wedding reception at the National History Museum.

Rita & Rushin’s wedding was definitely an event of a lifetime, spanning several continents. There were celebrations in India and in the US, before the amazing reception they held for 360 of their closest family and friends in London. We felt very privileged to be there to join in the celebrations of this lag leg of the ‘wedding tour’ before Rita & Rushin headed overseas to start their newly married life in New York.

I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking!

Jessica & Alexander | Wedding

The last time I was at the Union Chapel was when I was there to see one of my all time favourite artists, Heather Nova, perform. I’ve always associated the place more with gigs than with weddings, so it was a real treat to actually be working at this beautiful and legendary venue for Jessica & Alex’s wedding. They knew in advance that the outside of Union Chapel would be covered in scaffolding at the time of their wedding, but decided to go with it in any case as it is a special place for them too. And I have to agree with their decision, it was a magical feeling inside with sunlight pouring through the windows and the glorious ceiling of the chapel spreading over us. Just, wow.

No words can describe how stunning Jessica looked when she walked down the isle in her gorgeous gown from Imagine Bridal Couture. Like really, she looked like a movie star. The ceremony was equally beautiful and had a truly special feel about it. And even though this was the first time for me working up on a stage (I was sure I was going to either fall off it, through it, or at the least on my face on the unsteady surface), I managed to make it through without any major injury. Result!

After the ceremony and some portraits next to the chapel, we headed to the reception at The Old Finsbury Town Hall. Wow, talk about a stunning location for a wedding breakfast! I only wish I would have had a few more minutes of daylight to really explore all the lovely old textures of the beautiful hall. Angel Flowers in Islington created the beautiful flower arrangements (and what was one of my favourite bouquets ever, sooo pretty!). And omg, every wedding should have fish & chips! Although I have to say the delicious smell was driving us who were working a little bit delirious.

A huge thank you to Susanna for assisting, and to Helen from Helen Carter Weddings (assisted by the lovely Andri from Always Andri Wedding Design) for making the tightly-packed day run as smoothly as possible, it was a pleasure working with you girls.

And of course, a massive thank you to Jessica & Alex for allowing us to join you on your day, and giving us an opportunity to experience working in such amazing venues, it was truly unforgettable!

Jane & Michael | Wedding

Sooo, how can I talk about Jane & Michael’s (British/American/Korean) wedding without using all the superlatives in my vocabulary (once again)? It’s a funny thing actually, I often get asked the question ‘Can all the weddings you shoot always be so amazing, awesome and lovely? Really now?’ The answer is a resounding ‘hell yes’! What makes a wedding special are the people present on the day, and all the emotions they experience – and at every wedding I get to observe a different set of people with different dynamics. It is fascinating beyond belief. And most of all, it is very very touching. Every. Single. Time.

Jane & Michael got married at Botleys Mansion in Surrey, which was an absolute delight of a place! There was an abundance of lovely details and clever spaces, and the atmosphere was really cosy but grand at the same time. I do hope I get to return there one day. Wedding planner Kim from Roseberry Weddings made sure that every aspect of the day ran like clockwork, and I have to say that she was an absolute star! Having a super planner present guarantees that the couple gets to enjoy a stress-free day, but as a bonus it also makes the life of us other vendors a million times easier.

Oh and I have to mention Jane’s stunning Vera Wang gown – swoon! It even went through a slight alteration during the day in order to create a different look for the evening. In fact, this was the first wedding I’ve been a part of where the bride got dressed three times. In between the day and night looks Jane paid respect to her Korean heritage by wearing a beautiful Korean gown, which complimented her mother’s dress beautifully.

Another thing that was a first for me, was the fact that Jane and Michael opted for a ‘First Look’, which meant they wanted to see each other in privacy before walking down the isle. It was a really sweet and special moment to document, and I think something that could be done more in the UK. The main benefit for me as a photographer was the fact that we could take some portraits before the guests arrived, which took the pressure off the schedule somewhat.

I should also say thank you to some of the other vendors on the day, who were a joy to work with, namely florist Sandra Gaikwad and videographer Mike Buonaiuto. Oh and the amazing cake was by Linda Fripp.

So yes, this was indeed a very warm and gorgeous wedding, and even the constant rain couldn’t dampen the spirit of the day. Thank you Jane & Michael for having us, we had an absolute blast soaking up the loving atmosphere. x
