I’m currently in bed with a nasty cold and high fever, but I did sneak my laptop in with me (it keeps me warm after all!) so I can at least pretend to stay on top of some things… To cheer myself up, I decided to finally blog Johanna & Sven’s engagement session. There were times when it looked like this session would never happen, there seemed to be an endless amount of obstacles that forced us to reschedule more times than I can count. But a week ago the planets finally lined up in the right way and we spent a thoroughly lovely afternoon in Richmond Park.
From when we first started planning this session, Johanna was quite decided that she wanted to have a picnic, a proper picnic at that, not just a picnic theme. And boy did she go all out! I’m still craving her mouthwatering rhubarb pie and will definitely have to ask for the recipe – I really hope it’s not a family secret. I even got to sample some Belgian (yes, not Dutch like I mistakenly tweeted in my excitement after the shoot :P) raspberry beer, which was really rather nice, even to me who never ever drinks beer.
I’m so happy we finally managed to pull this shoot off, and that we had such a lovely time during it. Johanna is Finnish, Sven is Belgian and while they currently live in London, I’ll be covering their wedding in Finland next year, can’t wait!
Beautiful images Marianne. Love your work. (Get well soon).
This is just awesome! It’s one of the best engagement session I’ve seen lately. I don’t know if it’s the relaxed feeling, the cute couple or all the amazing details but it definitely put a smile on my face.
Take care and get well!
Great job! What a nice setup for an engagement shoot and well executed!
Your stuff is just ridiculously good. You captured such beautiful moments between them. They set the mood perfectly with the picnic… The colours are amazing.
If something could be adorable and yummy looking at the same time, this would be it. Great session!!
Always love the colors in your photographs – love this set of images also.
I love Richmond Park!

It’s simply wonderful how beautifully you capture everyone’s precious moments! Amazing work, that’s what I have to say when I go through your pictures!!
Hope you’re feeling better already! xx
I had a picture in my mind how these photos would look like when planning which props to use, but I have to say these photos totally exceeded our expectations (and believe me, having been a fan of your photos for quite some time, the expectations were high!)! It is amazing how you were able to capture the exact feelings and atmosphere, the most essential, but also the lovely little details.
They say good things come to all those who wait and I really don’t mind we ended up rescheduling and waiting for so long – the result is in perfect relation to the waiting time! Amazing. Thanks so much!
I’m so happy we finally managed to do it, and had such a nice time with it! It’s brilliant to know that you’re happy with the pictures. Can’t wait for the wedding, bring on Finland! :D
p.s. thank you SO much for the recipe, it will be the first thing I bake after we’ve finally moved into our new home.
Okay so anything with strawberries gets my stamp of approval… But it totally helps that you take pretty awesome pictures too… =P Seriously, this is a fantastic set and I love your pp.
