The Dustow Family : smiles and laughter by the sea

Spending time on the beach, capturing happy family memories, is one of my favourite things. For this family shoot with Carrie, Ian, River and Eden, we headed to Crantock beach, which never disappoints – no matter what the weather! Not that I’m complaining about how the sun blessed us this summer, it definitely was a stunner.

‘Cornwall is our home and will always be our home! It was agreed when we first started dating. We love being able to pick up our boys from school and head straight to the beach to make the very most of the rest of the day. Ian loves to go for a sail on the Cornish coast and he can not wait to take our boys out for their first sail. Sailing has been such a huge part of his life – from sailing as a toddler with his dad to proposing to me just off of the Falmouth coast. We’ve made so many memories here in Cornwall and we can’t wait to make thousands more!’

Frøy & Alex : couple photography in the dunes

Frøy, from Norway & Alex, from Devon, have made Cornwall their home while Frøy studies here. On a beautiful hazy summer’s day, we had a little shoot on the beach to create a memory of this time in their lives.

The Lepola Family : day on the beach family shoot

I’ve worked with Hayley & Lucas on commercial photography for some years, and it has been so lovely to see their family grow, first with June and more recently with little Otis. I couldn’t have been happier to spend some time on a beach in Cornwall to capture them and their gorgeous family, making Cornish memories.

‘We first visited Cornwall in 2014 when Hayley was pregnant with our first. We regretted not having visited sooner as we immediately we fell in love with the beautiful beaches, towns and countryside. We came back the following year for our first family holiday with June. Most recently we’ve been back with June’s baby brother for our first holiday as a family of four. We’ve made so many special family memories here and can’t wait to make a family tradition of spending time together in beautiful Cornwall.’

Our shoot fell between swelteringly hot days, and it was actually nice to get a wee break from the sun and get to shoot in some even light. Besides, any day is a good beach day!

Sophie & Gareth : Midsummer’s couple session in Cornwall

It was Midsummer’s Eve and the weather really couldn’t have been more beautiful when we headed out to West Pentire for Sophie & Gareth’s couple session. Sophie loves colour, so we were beyond excited that the poppies were out for us – what could be more perfect than a cliff-top poppy field on a gloriously sunny day?

‘Cornwall will always have a place in our hearts. It was only supposed to be a year – I was straight out of uni and needed some time to figure out what our next steps were. 8 years later, and Cornwall has allowed us to not only build a business together but also to develop a pace of life that no other part of the UK would’ve allowed – to enjoy together, to grow together, to explore together.’

We wrapped up the session with a walk on Crantock beach and some pizza afterwards. I loved spending time with these two, enjoying the beautiful Cornish scenery, and all the laughter and joy. It really was the perfect Midsummer!

The Year in Pictures

Here we are again, waving goodbye to yet another year!

While 2017 was the year where the commercial side of my photography business really took off and kept me super busy, there were still lovely moments shared with Together and Family photography clients, as well as some editorial commissions and a few weddings that filled my heart with joy. Just remembering all these beautiful days and moments makes me realise that I never want to stop working with private clients completely, there’s just something so special about getting to be a part of real lives and real moments in time.
